On September 19th, the 73rd edition of the Emmy, now again at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, after a digital edition due to the new coronavirus pandemic. For those who want to marathon this year’s competitors and root for their favorites, we’ve listed here all the series, miniseries and reality shows available in Brazilian streaming and nominated for the Emmy 2021 in the main categories of the night. Based on the eponymous comics, the boys is an original Prime Video series. Its plot takes place in a universe in which superheroes are acclaimed by the population, but at heart they are extremely corrupt and egocentric. To control their actions, a group of vigilantes called The Boys appears.


Produced by Shonda Rhimes (from gray is anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder), Bridgerton is based on the Julia Quinn novel series. The production takes place during the British Regency and follows the high society of the time, with special emphasis on the Bridgerton family itself: a clan full of young people of marriageable age.

The Crown

Another period series, The Crown is already a veteran of the competition, topping the 2021 Emmy nomination list alongside The Mandalorian. The title, currently in its fourth season (and slated to end for the sixth), is based on the story of Queen Elizabeth II, and covers her marriage to Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh until shortly after Princess Diana’s death.

The title takes place in a dystopian USA, in which a dictatorial government with religious bases came to power, establishing a society of castes and in which women are seen only as reproducers.

Based on a book by Matt Ruff, lovecraft country it mixes writer H. P. Lovecraft’s fantastical and terrifying creations with intense social criticism. Its plot takes place in the mid-1950s and follows a young man, his friend and his uncle on a dangerous road trip to find his missing father.

The Mandalorian

Series that is part of the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian is a live-action situated between the movies. Return of the Jedi and A new hope. In it, we follow a lone and brave Mandalorian who works as a bounty hunter, and who stumbles across an extremely powerful creature who needs help: Grogu, baby Yoda.

Against the backdrop of New York’s ballroom culture of the 80s and 90s, Pose is a series co-created by Ryan Murphy (from American Horror Story and glee). Its plot follows in the footsteps of Blanca, a trans woman who lives immersed in the world of dances and decides to set up her own house to shelter LGBTQIA+ youth and others marginalized by society.

this is us

NBC drama, This is Us accompanies a very passionate couple who have triplets. Over the years, we have followed all the Pearson’s phases and changes, in a plot that goes back and forth in time at all times to tell their story and the plots that branch out from the core of the family.

Sitcom who is also among the 2021 Emmy nominees, black-ish it revolves around a very successful black man. Snake Kai

Originally from YouTube Premium, but purchased by Netflix, Snake Kai is a series derived from the Karate Kid trilogy, which takes place 34 years after its initial history. In the plot, Johnny Lawrence decides to start his life over by reopening the Cobra Kai dojo and helping children harassed by society. Meanwhile, Daniel Larusso, lost without his master, revives his rivalry with his former enemy.

Emily in Paris

Already renewed for a second season, Emily in Paris follows a young American woman who is sent to Paris by the marketing company she works for. Without knowing how to speak French and with a somewhat mistaken cultural view of the city, she will have to learn to become professionally and personally in the city of light.

A tribute to laughter, Hacks is an original HBO Max production. In the plot, Ava is a young comedy writer who has been boycotted by the industry, while Deborah is a Las Vegas veteran who fills her comedy shows. Together they will have to learn to work in partnership.

The Kominsky Method

Created by Chuck Lorre (from two and a half men and The Big Bang Theory), The Kominsky Method was closed after its third season. The series stars a retired actor, who lived a few days of glory in Hollywood. Now as a teacher of budding artists, he enlists the help of his best friend and agent to get through old age.

Originally from Hulu, Pen15 is created and played by Maya Erskine. The show follows Maya and Anna Konkle playing themselves when they were 13 years old. Characterized as if they were at that time, they go through dramas, friendships and romances typical of their age, portraying in a very ironic way how young people’s lives were in the early 2000s.

ted lasso

Based on a character from NBC Sports commercials, ted lasso Its protagonist is an American football coach who receives and accepts a somewhat atypical proposal: coaching a football team in London that plays in the Premier League.

Perry Mason

In Treatment

HBO series broadcast initially between 2008 and 2010, In Treatment was resumed in 2020 for a fourth season with Uzo Aduba as the protagonist. In its plot, we follow the sessions of an analyst with her respective patients and the consultations that she herself undergoes with her psychologist. As well as its Brazilian version, Therapy session, the production was inspired by an Israeli sitcom.

Hulu’s original title, Shrill is an adaptation of a book of the same name. Her story revolves around a fat young journalist, who knows her potential, but finds herself constantly being boycotted at work and by society because of her weight.

CBS Comedy, mom follows in the footsteps of a single mother who is trying to recover from an addiction to drugs and alcohol while working as a waitress. As if life weren’t difficult enough, she still has to deal with her mother, a very critical woman and also a former addict, and her drug dealer ex-husband.

I may destroy you

Series created, directed and starring Michaela Coel, I may destroy you it is based on the actress’ own experiences. The show follows a very successful young writer who is living her best personal and professional moment. The Underground Railroad

Amazon Prime Video Original Series, The Underground Railroad is based on a book of the same name that won the Pulitzer 2017. The production predates the US Civil War and has as its protagonist Cora, a woman who, after fleeing a cotton farm where she was a slave, becomes chased by a bounty hunter.


Series that inaugurated the fourth phase of the Marvel Universe, WandaVision takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. In each of its episodes, the show portrays a decade in which Wanda and Visão live as a “normal” couple, in a quiet small town in the interior. Everything changes, however, when Vision realizes that there is something wrong with those perfect settings and that life that doesn’t seem to be yours.
