O popular RPG online Genshin Impact will receive their next update on October 13th, faithfully following their six-week update plan. As announced this weekend, version 2.2 will feature the last of the six main islands of the Inazuma region, the new four-star playable character Thoma, the return of the limited Tartaglia and Hu Tao banners, and much more.
miHoYo, the game’s developer, revealed all the details of what’s to come right after their special live “Genshin Concert 2021”, held this past Sunday (3rd). Version 2.2 of Genshin Impact, dubbed “Mystery of the Sea of Mist”, it will present a series of missions, events and even new enemies.
Last big island of Inazuma, Tsurumi
The first of the news announced is the expansion of the map of the region of Inazuma with the arrival of the last of the six main islands of the continent inspired by Japan. The new place will arrive shrouded in a dense fog. Players can easily get lost during their exploration and encounter “unprecedented” challenges in this area.
The island named Tsurumi will be the center of the new line of main quests introduced in version 2.2. In addition, the map will be accompanied by the release of a new type of enemy. The “slit dogs” and “slit pups” are stealthy and dangerous beasts that camouflage themselves in the island’s vast mist.
Once your attacks hit any active character, the “Corrosion” status will apply to the player’s entire team, constantly reducing health. The effect dribbles any shields in the game, making them particularly dangerous. To fight them, it is ideal to bring a healer capable of healing the entire team simultaneously, such as Kokomi, Jean, Qiqi and Barbara.
In addition, the island is also related to the research of a scholar coming from Sumeru, the center of the “Shadow of the Ancients” event. In these quests, players need to conduct investigations on Mondstadt, Liyue and Inazuma to defeat a “Special Ruins Colossus” that can regenerate.
Thoma, the new playable character in Genshin Impact
Another great new feature of version 2.2 of Genshin Impact it’s Thoma, the four-star Pyro spearman who had already been introduced during Inazuma’s main arc quests. The faithful servant of the Kamisato clan and Ayaka’s right-hand man had his abilities revealed, but without numerical details.
As far as we know so far, Thoma is a Pyro character, spear user and his abilities should put him as a support or sub DPS that easily applies fire to enemies, facilitating elemental reactions while protecting the character on the field.
His elemental ability “Blazing Blessing” deals Pyro damage in area and generates a shield. Your passive feat “Imbricated Armor” increases the strength of the shield when the barrier is created or renewed. Thoma’s Elemental Blast “Crimson Ooyoroi” also deals damage to the Pyro area, refreshes his shield, and causes the characters’ normal attacks on the field to trigger a wave of fire that deals damage to enemies while strengthening the barrier.
Thoma will also have her own dating event alongside Sayu, the little ninja Anemo and sword-wearer. They will also be the first Inazuma characters to be included in this line of side quests, which already features events for Barbara, Noelle, Bennett, Chongyun and Diona.
Tartaglia and Hu Tao return in limited banner
Unlike versions 2.0 and 2.1, the new update’s limited five-star character banners will not feature new characters, either to the relief of some or the disappointment of others. Instead, Hydro bow user Tartaglia will return for the second time in the first banner, followed by Hu Tao, who will rerun for the first time since it was released in March.
The return of the 11th Massager Fatui Tartaglia, also known as Childe, is somewhat curious. His launch banner didn’t sell well and his rerun had one of the worst performances to date. However, his return would be justified by his likely participation in the main story of version 2.2. Also, your banner will be accompanied by a new limited five-star arc, which might appeal more to players.
Hu Tao, on the other hand, has been highly anticipated since the end of its first banner. After seven months, players will finally have another chance to pick up the Pyro Lancer, considered one of the best DPS in the game to date. Thoma will enter as one of the four star characters with increased summoning chance in this banner.
Finally, Aloy, the result of the cross-over of Genshin Impact with Horizon: Zero Dawn will come free for all players in this next update. The five-star Cryo archer character had already been distributed in advance to Playstation users.
