Spotify Unveils Most Listened Songs, Artists and Podcasts of 2020 | Internet

We arrived in December and, as it became a tradition at this time, Spotify revealed what has been most popular with users since January. The streaming service presented lists of artists, albums, songs and podcasts most heard in Brazil and in the world in 2020. The platform also released some trends that it observed this year.

In Brazil, the lists were dominated by countrymen’s names. The most heard artist among Spotify users in the country was Marília Mendonça. She was followed by Henrique & Juliano, who Provisional Freedom, had the most heard music by Brazilian users and by, Gusttavo Lima, who, with The Ambassador in Cariri, had the most heard album of the year.

The most heard in the world on Spotify was Bad Bunny, which, between January and November, had 8.3 billion plays in its music. The rapper also had the most heard album in the world on the platform. Launched in February, YHLQMDLG it had more than 3.3 billion reproductions worldwide.

Among women, Billie Eilish was for the second consecutive year the most listened singer in the world on Spotify. In the list of most heard songs in the world, the title got Blinding Lights, by The Weeknd, with 1.6 billion reproductions. With 1.9 million podcasts available, the streaming service also indicated that The Joe Rogan Experience was the most popular of 2020.

Trends on Spotify in 2020

Spotify presented other data that drew attention in 2020, a year marked by the pandemic of the new coronavirus. One of them is related to the mass adoption of the home office: playlists with music to work from home increased by 1,400% between April and May. In addition, wellness podcasts grew 180% from January to November.

The service also pointed out habits that users had this year. One points to a 55% increase in use from consoles, between January and November. In the same period, there was an increase in the interest in podcasts, mainly for people between 18 and 24 years old. According to the platform, the most popular time to listen to the programs is between 6 am and 9 am.
