Samsung launched on Tuesday (3) the Galaxy S20 FE, a simpler model in the Galaxy S20 family. Also known as the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, the premium phone features the same Exynos 990 processor as the more expensive siblings, as well as a 120 Hz refresh rate screen, 4,500 mAh battery and up to 8 GB of RAM. With casualties on the cameras, design and other details, it will have a suggested price between R $ 4,499 and R $ 4,999.
The Galaxy S20 FE is like the Galaxy S10 Lite of the past generation: it offers firepower similar to that of Samsung’s most expensive phones, but simplifies some components to make it more accessible. The AMOLED screen is 6.5 inches and 120 Hz, but has no curvature on the sides and brings Full HD + resolution instead of the Quad HD + of the Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra.
The back of the Galaxy S20 FE is plastic, but Samsung maintained its IP68 certification for protection against water and dust, as well as wireless charging, absent in the Galaxy S10 Lite. And the fingerprint reader remains under the display, but it is optical and not ultrasonic.
Galaxy S20 FE has triple camera and DeX
Without the giant photo resolution numbers of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Galaxy S20 FE has a triple set of rear cameras, featuring a 12 megapixel (f / 1.8) main, a 12 megapixel ultrawide with a 123 field of view degrees (f / 2.2) and an 8 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom (f / 2.4).
It is possible to take photos in the dark with the night mode and activate the Single Take function, which creates photos and videos with varied effects and cuts from a single touch on the shutter. At the front, Samsung highlights the 32-megapixel selfie camera, a higher resolution than the brand’s line tops.
The model that will be sold in Brazil has support for 4G networks and Samsung Exynos 990 octa-core processor up to 2.73 GHz. In some countries, Samsung is marketing a Galaxy S20 FE with 5G connection and Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, but this variant has no forecast to reach the Brazilian market.
The Galaxy S20 FE runs Android 10 with the One UI 2.0 interface from the factory and is part of Samsung’s recent promise to offer three Android updates. The software features are basically the same as Samsung’s new generation of premium phones, including DeX wireless: you can display a desktop interface with floating windows on a TV, using the phone as a keyboard and trackpad.
Galaxy S20 FE: when and how much?
Available in red, orange, lavender, mint, blue and white, the Galaxy S20 FE will be launched in Brazil with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage per R $ 4,499 or 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage per R $ 4,999.
As it did in recent launches, Samsung offers a voucher for those who participate in the pre-sale of the Galaxy S20 FE: those who buy the smartphone between November 3 and 12 will receive R $ 700 to purchase other products from the Galaxy ecosystem. Official sales begin on November 13.
The Galaxy S20 FE’s prices are lower than the R $ 5,499 charged on the Galaxy S20’s debut, but the top of the line launched in March 2020 can already be found for lower prices in retail promotions.
