Design, comfort and controls

Elsys has a somewhat unusual strategy of not naming its headphones. The Elsys ANC Bluetooth Headphone or Elsys Bluetooth Headset is identified by the code EAF042ANC1. I do not see this as a serious problem, but it is strange considering that this is the main gadget of the brand in the audio category.

Anyway, for an entry-level product, the handset until it conquers by the robust design and materials that appear to be resistant. The brand opted for plastic, fabric and a material that imitates leather, which gives an “air of sophistication” to the device.

The Elsys ANC Bluetooth headphone is flexible and this allows the headset to be easily stored in the backpack. In addition, this flexibility contributes to a more pleasant experience: in my case, the product was well secured without hurting or pressing the ears and, even with glasses, comfort was present.

As for the controls, Elsys added the volume and on / off buttons (also used for pairing) on the right shell. There is still a P2 input that is very useful when the gadget’s battery runs out; Elsys even sends a 94 cm auxiliary cable in the box, which makes it even easier. In the left shell, you will find the noise canceling button and a Micro-USB port to supply the 1,050 mAh battery.

Headphones with shell controls tend to make adjustments a little difficult, as sometimes you can’t see what you’re squeezing. And here it does not differ: it took me a while to record all the buttons available there, but that changes after a few days of use.

Sound quality and noise cancellation

The Elsys EAF042ANC1 is that product that, even if it is an entry, does not disappoint. The sound is well defined, remarkable and there is no exaggeration in the frequencies, seeking to maintain balance. The bass is felt without bursting, the treble gets a little dry, but only the detailers who test direct headphones (me here) will notice it.

His behavior in pop, electronics, rock, jazz and MPB was very appropriate. In Brazilian Popular Music, in particular, I felt a richness in the details, the vocal sounds clear and even the bass, more reclusive in this genre, suddenly appear more.

The midfielders are present all the time and, from time to time, I realize that they compete with the other frequencies, depending on the music being played. This usually happens in hot pop, which usually has a fruit salad with beats, sharp trebles, back vocals, effects and more, an example is You Make Me Feel, from the Cobra Starship.

Headphones are easily noisy, but this is not the case with the Elsys headphone. I did not feel squeaking at high volume or low intensity. And about active noise cancellation I can only say one thing: it works and well. The technology present in this phone manages to reduce the sound of a TV with the volume plus one minus in 45%, of a car, motorcycle and even with the noise of a truck the ANC proved efficient.

But not everything is perfect. When you disable noise cancellation, the audio is impaired, more weakened and slightly lifeless. However, this other experience, with the technology deactivated, can please people who do not enjoy a fuller sound. It is a good way out, since it does not allow equalization.

The microphone is ok for a phone in this position: the person on the other end can understand what I am saying and the ANC button can help you not to be screaming during a phone call. I also realize that this is a good product for online classes and meetings.

Drums

Regarding the battery, Elsys says that the phone can handle 46 hours without noise cancellation and 26 hours with the feature on (I tested it on all the time). In my tests, one charge was enough to spend more than three hours on Netflix consuming series and movies, and a lot of battery is left for you to listen to podcasts and music. Connected to an iPhone 12 and with the ANC on, I was able to leave the phone playing music for 24 hours without interruption and, after that period, they still had 50% charge, a really fantastic autonomy.

Elsys ANC Bluetooth Headphone: is it worth it?

Even though it is not widely recognized in the audio sector, I see that the Brazilian brand has managed to develop a product that stands out in the category. The Elsys ANC Bluetooth Headphone, with its innovative name (contains irony), has balanced sound, a versatility that I value a lot and active noise cancellation that just works.

As for the price, I still wouldn’t pay nearly R $ 400 for this phone, since you can find models that are well evaluated for less, like the JBL Tune 500BT, sold for R $ 250 and allows you to activate personal assistants, has a multipoint connection, but loses note for not having active noise cancellation like this one from Elsys. The Edifier W800BT is another model worth analyzing and keeping an eye on: it is more accessible, has a battery for up to 50 hours of playback and Bluetooth 5.0 (which the Elsys model does not have and is missing).

In summary, the Elsys EAF042ANC1 is a very well-built entry phone with sound to please many people. It is that product for those who do not really care about specifications and who are looking for the basics for everyday life. So it’s worth it when you find it for less than $ 300.
