Costing less than R $ 150, the Elsys Ambience is a portable speaker that adapts well to the office and home office. The speaker has a design that is out of the ordinary, has a Bluetooth 4.2 connection, integrated microphone and 3.5 mm audio input (P2). In addition, it does not depend on a power source to function, thanks to the battery that guarantees up to five hours of playback.
Is it worth it? And how does it sound? Elsys Ambience was my companion in the last days and I share my experience of use in this brief review.

Design and connectivity
The Elsys speaker is very light and the pill-shaped design is very pleasant. I believe that the brand just missed the opportunity to include a hole, on the back or on the side, to include a string – the accessory could make transport even easier. The most interesting thing about this design is the possibility of leaving the speaker lying down, which resembles a soundbar, or standing, ideal for when the product is loading.
At the top, the company added the off button (with an LED) that made me wrinkle my nose, it has nothing to do with his position, my criticism goes to the message issued when pressing it. When you press the button, the gadget says “phone on” and “phone is connected”. These messages are used on the brand’s headphones and should not be here on this product. It is not the end of the world, but it gives a feeling of enjoyment that is not cool.
At the rear, Elsys included an audio input and a Micro-USB to power the box. Overall, the gadget is very beautiful, minimalist and despite not having a finish to fill the eyes, it is very interesting in the setup, in the office or in a living room.
In connectivity, Elsys Ambience works with Bluetooth 4.2, which is acceptable for a product as cheap as this. The range is a little limited, but when being close to the cell phone, for example, the performance is precise and I didn’t even witness pricking in the audio or any other similar problem. She even surprised me when I posted videos: I didn’t notice any significant audio delays (the famous latency), so Ambience can be a good companion for watching videos on YouTube or even series on Netflix.
Sound and battery quality
We did not record the box playing music, because the experience will not be the same when testing the product live. The capture, compression from YouTube and your equipment used to accompany this review interfere with the result, so I will share the performance below.
Elsys Ambience’s sound is directional, but audio dispersion is not as efficient, so it works best in small rooms, such as a bedroom. When I tested the volume, I immediately missed buttons on the device itself to control the loudness, so here’s the feedback for the next generation.
The box has two speakers of 3 watts of power each. It is very loud, but when you raise the volume, you can feel the high-pitched sound, and you can even hear some noises in this circumstance. The bass is present, but more timid and does not show strength even in songs with many beats.
On the other hand, it is the middle and the treble that dominate. However, these frequencies start to lose stability with the volume above 70%. Depending on the sound, congestion may get a little higher, as well as noise.
Regarding autonomy, we have a curious situation. Elsys says on the website and on the product packaging that Ambience has a 400 mAh battery and can play for up to 5 hours. But I managed to leave the box on for much longer. In just one day, the gadget was playing music for 9h22min and at the end of the day they still had 50%; and I continued to use it the next day.
Elsys Ambience: is it worth it?
The Elsys Ambience is an extremely basic Bluetooth speaker and may even be worth it as long as you are aware of the limitations here. I see it as a good option for those who are really looking for a simple and affordable speaker, to use in shops, concierge, office, kitchen or other smaller environments.
I liked that the connectivity is good, without those cuts in the sound; the design is interesting and makes the box look cool in various spaces in the house; and the autonomy is really above expectations and promises to last all day.
If you want something powerful and complete, I would bet on the LG Xboom Go PL2 that has full-bodied sound, Meridian technology and can trigger virtual assistants. It was launched for R $ 449, but already appears in online retail for around R $ 200.
