Nintendo Switch Online offers many features to owners of the Japanese manufacturer’s hybrid console. In this file, we take stock of all the information you need to know before paying for access to the service.
Nintendo Switch Online: Benefits and Features
Let’s start with the most obvious, Nintendo Switch Online of course allows you to play almost all games online. Almost, because some free to play titles, such as Fortnite, are accessible without. The Switch has many multiplayer games, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate or Splatoon 2. It is also possible to access special services via the Switch Online application on iOS and Android, to analyze your statistics on Nintendo games taken into account. As on PS4 and Xbox One, Nintendo offers the game online for a subscription, but also some bonuses to encourage you to stay.
Nintendo Switch Online membership also brings a super handy feature:cloud backup. If you play a game, save it online, and then log back in on another Switch with your profile, you’ll find all of your saves back. Convenient.
This subscription includes other interesting offers, like exclusive games. Once subscribed, it is then possible to play at no additional cost titles such as Tetris 99, the Battle Royale derived from the famous brick game, but also Super Mario Bros 35. Nintendo also offers games to test for free for a limited time. It is up to you to buy them or not after this period.
Nintendo provides access to a large catalog including many of its old games, playable at no extra cost. It is thus possible to play 105 games (70 NES games and 35 SNES games) including The Legend of Zelda, Super Metroid or Star Fox. It should be noted that this list is not final. Indeed, Nintendo has a habit of regularly adding titles to its catalog, to the delight of fans. However, this bonus only applies to games of the 8 and 16-bit generation, since there are no more recent console games, such as the Nintendo 64 or the Gamecube.
Finally, it should be noted that the Switch Online provides access to a few in-game perks, such as a special carpet in Animal Crossing or costumes in Splatoon 2. It’s always good to grab.

How do I subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online?
To subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, it’s very easy! Just bring your Switch and go to the tab Online, symbolized by a small red circle, on the home screen. It is located to the far left of the lower buttons. Be careful, if your console is not up to date, you will not be able to go to the menu (the update will be offered automatically).
Once inside, just select your player icon (if you are not a subscriber, a test reporting this will appear automatically). Make sure you have a Nintendo Account, with a valid email address and a password to subscribe.
Once your profile is validated, you will see that you do not have a subscription. We must then go to Check in Nintendo eShop and there, a new window will appear. Next to the Online logo, in red, is a button Subscription Forms. You just have to click on it and you will then have to choose your formula. Note that a 7-day offer is available to try out the service.
