performance, lightness and silence … the verdict of a digital student

“With the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, opening Photoshop, Premiere Pro or After effects only takes a few seconds. I can even work with two or three of these software simultaneously, without it “lagging” ”.

Fanny Gautier, 19, is a student at IIM – Digital School Paris. She began a preparatory year of training in digital professions there. Many subjects are on the program: 3D creation, video games, graphics, code and of course knowledge of the Adobe suite.

To carry out her study projects, she momentarily swapped her usual laptop PC for an ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, a machine designed to meet the needs of creative people. She tells us about her experience with this solidly equipped laptop PC, which she was able to test for a week in real working conditions.

Fanny, how is the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED and its powerful 3.3 GHz Core i7-based configuration a relevant machine for your studies?

I work every day with very heavy software, those from the Adobe suite like Photoshop, Première Pro and After Effects or 3D animation software like 3Ds Max from Autodesk. With the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, opening one of these programs only takes a few seconds. I can even work with two or three of them simultaneously, without it “lagging”. This is not the case with my usual machine, a gamer model that is nevertheless powerful enough, but not enough for numerous and complex graphics processing on a daily basis! With the ASUS PC, I didn’t experience any slowdown and this is the first thing I expect from a laptop PC.

What are the most quantifiable impacts over these few days of testing?

I save a lot of time during the day and above all I am able to carry out my tasks much more easily, with less stress. With my previous computer, I had to wait a few seconds between each micro-action, even during the smallest “copy and paste” … It was really very frustrating and it ended up causing me to fall behind which could be calculated in hours at the end of the month.

Did you use the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED on campus to attend class?

And yes ! The face-to-face classes have resumed and of course I have to be equipped with my laptop to attend. Sometimes I even have to work with other students on certain projects in the café or in the study room and I really appreciated the great autonomy of the Vivobook Pro. Before, it was absolutely necessary that I place myself in class near an outlet. Otherwise, it was the guaranteed battery failure after an hour … the software I use draws heavily on the resources of the machine.

More precisely, what does this give in terms of autonomy?

I hold very well throughout the day without needing to plug into the power, including during the longest class sessions that last five hours. The last time, I even left home with only 75% battery power and the ASUS PC held up for all those hours of class where I intensely used several Adobe suite software at the same time!

Does the VivoBook Pro 16X OLED laptop PC offer all the daily comfort that one is entitled to expect from such a professional machine?

The equipment is really top notch. The keyboard is comfortable, with its flat, separate keys, and its backlighting allows me to work even when there is little outside light. But the best part is its large 16-inch OLED screen, which is really nice with its vibrant colors. I am not yet far enough along in the year to take advantage of all its certifications, which are nevertheless essential in the field of graphics, but that is reassuring in advance. It’s clear, retouching, cropping images, editing with Photoshop while enjoying such magnificent images, it’s cool to work. I also tested it to watch series and play video games like The Sims or Rocket League, hard not to appreciate the screen!

asus vivobook bag

Is this a machine you would consider using on a daily basis?

Downright ! And very important point is that the VivoBook Pro 16X, which nevertheless has a large 16-inch screen and which has the power of a large gaming PC, remains quite thin and light. [NDLR, il pèse 1,95 kg]. Its great strength is that you can easily slip it into a bag and carry it all day without it becoming painful.

I also liked the ventilation system of the Vivobook Pro 16X, which is incredibly quiet. It’s very pleasant at home when I want to listen to music from the speakers which also pleasantly surprised me with their excellent sound. And it’s even better in class, because we don’t want to disturb other students with the sound of a plane taking off! I am really impressed and also noticed that the PC hardly gets hot even after long editing sessions. You can really work in the position of your choice, including the laptop on your knees! Going back to my old machine, it’s really not going to be easy!
