Nubia Red Magic 6 is a gamer phone with up to 18 GB of RAM and a 165 Hz screen | Cell

Whoever is looking for a gamer phone can find on Nubia an interesting option: this week, the brand controlled by Chinese ZTE confirmed the launch of the Red Magic 6 It’s from Red Magic 6 Pro, dual smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 888 chip, 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with 165 Hz refresh rate and up to 18 GB of RAM.

Both models were developed in partnership with Tencent (a company with a strong presence in the games market) and attract attention right away by the look. If the front part would make the models pass for conventional smartphones, the rear is full of elaborate details that do not deny the target audience of the two products.

But it is on the hardware side that Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro are really notable. It starts with the screen. In both cell phones, the panel is of the AMOLED type, is 6.8 inches in size, has a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a frequency of up to 165 Hz, in addition to a touch sampling rate of 500 Hz.

As already mentioned, the processor is the Snapdragon 888. The amounts of RAM vary, however. While Red Magic 6 has 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5, Red Magic 6 Pro can be equipped with 12 or 16 GB of the same type of memory.

Red Magic 6 Pro also has a Transparent Edition version that brings 16 or 18 GB of LPDDR5.

Another difference between the two novelties appears on the battery. The Red Magic 6 has a 5.050 mAh unit and comes with a 66 W fast charger. The Pro model has a 4.500 mAh battery.

A slight disadvantage, right? So-so. The Red Magic 6 Pro compensates for the smaller battery with a 120 W recharging system. Here, the charging time from 0 to 100% requires only 17 minutes of plug-in!

For the record, the Red Magic 6 66 W charger needs 38 minutes to perform the same procedure, which is also impressive.

The camera set is identical on both smartphones. The rear has three sensors: the main 64 megapixel camera, an 8 megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens and a 2 megapixel camera for macro. The front area houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The differences between the two models are again evident at the rear. While the Red Magic 6 has an all-glass surface, the Red Magic 6 Pro adds an aluminum plate there, which theoretically contributes to heat dissipation.

Speaking of heat, it is worth mentioning that the models have an internal cooler of 18,000 rpm and, in the Pro version, 20,000 rpm. As the Red Magic 6 Pro Transparent Edition has a transparent back, as the name suggests, the cooler is adorned there with a colored LED.

Other features include Android 11, 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, fingerprint reader integrated into the screen and headphone jack, an increasingly rare item on high-end phones.
