The first batch of 2021 Income Tax refund began to be released on Monday (31) to taxpayers. But, according to posts made on social networks recently, some customers of Nubank have not yet received payment on their accounts. In a statement, fintech said it is investigating the reports.
The complaints come from Twitter posts made since Monday (31). Through the platform, users claim that, while people from other institutions are already paying on their accounts, the same did not happen at Nubank. Fintech, it is worth remembering, allows the receipt of income tax refunds since 2020.
“I still haven’t received my IRPF refund, it was supposed to be credited today,” said a client on Monday (31). “Other banks have already received it on Saturday and yesterday.”
A user also shared a screenshot early last night. The image shows the IRS website with the information that the refund has been credited. “On the Revenue website it says that it was credited and the data is correct”, asked another client of the financial institution. “What happened?”
Complaints continued on Tuesday (1). At 10:30 am, a customer said that she had opted to receive the refund to her fintech account, but that she had not yet received payment. Nubank replied to the tweet right away:
“We ask that you wait a period of one business day for the compensation of the DOC carried out by the Federal Revenue. This is the usual deadline, but it may take longer if the transfer is made after 10 pm, ok?”
In the midst of interactions about the case, Banco do Brasil instructed a Twitter user to check if there is a refund amount on the IRS app or website. The state company also suggested the verification of the data informed for the transaction. According to the bank, if something is wrong, it will be necessary to make a new appointment.
Banco do Brasil, Nubank and IRS: what do they say?
O Techblog got in touch with Banco do Brasil, Nubank and the Internal Revenue Service this Tuesday (1st).
O Nubank reinforced that it is investigating customer reports. The financial institution also stated that it has not identified impacts on the receipt of income tax refunds so far.
“All transactions, carried out via DOC or TED, were duly processed according to the data provided by the customers”, they added. “To preserve bank secrecy, any doubts are being addressed with the respective customers.”
THE IRS said that the payment of the refund is made directly to the bank account informed in the Income Tax Declaration. “The entire non-credit solution is resolved by BB [Banco do Brasil]”, they stated.
“If for some reason the credit is not performed (if, for example, the account informed was deactivated), the amounts will be available for redemption for up to 1 (one) year at Banco do Brasil”, they explained. “In this case, the citizen can reschedule the credit of the amounts simply and quickly through the BB Portal” or through the BB Relationship Center.
O Bank of Brazil did not return to us at the time of publication.
Nubank’s app went offline this Monday (31)
This Monday morning (31), Nubank customers were unable to access the Android and iPhone (iOS) application. Later, in the afternoon, the company stated that “operations were normalized”. However, complaints about the app’s instability continued even after the bank’s statement.
Some reports were published in our Community at night. Around 8:30 pm, a reader reported that she lost access to her account due to a technical problem. This morning, another reader informed us by e-mail that the bank remains out of service.
“Did Nubank go down again?” a Twitter user reported this morning. “Is your Nubank not working either?” asked another customer around 1pm today.
“We clarify that the temporary oscillation that occurred on the morning of 5/31 was punctual and the system was normalized on the same day”, said fintech this Tuesday (1).
