Microsoft announced, on Tuesday (13), the Surface Laptop 4. As anticipated the rumors that circulated in the last months, the notebook arrives in versions based on processors Intel and AMD Ryzen, and with screen of 13,5 or 15 inches . The company also introduced several new accessories with an integrated Teams button, made to facilitate remote work.
Surface Laptop 4 maintains the minimalist design of the previous generation, and retains the USB-C, USB-A ports, the headphone jack and the Surface Connect port for charging. You can buy it with the Alcantara fabric covering or entirely in metal.
The biggest differences are seen internally. Consumers can choose a Surface Laptop 4 with 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake processors or bet on AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors.
The 13.5-inch screen version can be purchased with Ryzen 5 4680U CPU, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. But you can also choose between variants with Intel Core i5-1135G7 or Core i7-1185G7 CPUs, with RAM of up to 32 GB and storage of up to 1 TB.
Microsoft will launch a second model with AMD and 16 GB of RAM in about eight weeks.
If you choose the 15 inch model, you can choose between a version with AMD Ryzen 7 4980U, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD (you can upgrade to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage), or with Intel Core i7-1185G7 with 16 or 32 GB and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage.
The Surface Laptop 4 also features Windows Hello facial recognition login, HD 720p webcam, two microphones, speakers with Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Surface Laptop 4 price and availability
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is available for orders in the United States, Canada and Japan from this Tuesday (13th) and will begin to be delivered to consumers on Thursday (15th).
The 13.5-inch models with AMD start at US $ 1,000, while those with Intel start at US $ 1,300 and can reach US $ 2,300. The 15-inch versions start at US $ 1,300 with AMD and US $ 1,800 with Intel, which can reach US $ 2,400.
New accessories make remote work easier
In addition to the Surface Laptop 4, Microsoft has announced some accessories to make remote work more comfortable and professional. The line features the Modern Webcam, the Modern USB-C Speaker, the Surface Headphone 2+ and the Modern headsets (in wired and wireless versions).
The webcam shoots in Full HD (1080p) with HDR and has a USB-A connection. The device costs $ 70 and will be available in June.
The Modern USB-C Speaker has its own button for starting Microsoft Teams and quickly joining a meeting. The accessory features omni-directional noise-canceling microphones and arrives in June for $ 100.
Surface Headphones 2+ are an update to Surface Headphones 2, bringing the button for immediate access to Teams. The new headphones cost $ 300 and are now available.
Finally, we have the Modern USB and Wireless headsets, an option for those who want a more compact (and less expensive) set to be able to hold remote meetings without major problems.
The accessories also have the Teams button and have an LED that indicates whether the microphone is muted or active in a conversation. The wired version costs $ 50 and the wireless version has yet to be revealed. Both will be available in June.
