O iPhone 13 it hasn’t been officially released yet, but clues about Apple’s upcoming phones have started to surface over the last year. As september 2021 gets closer, the list of possible news gets bigger and more promising: always-on screen, ProMotion display with 120 Hz refresh rate and the return of Touch ID are some of them.
If you haven’t been able to keep up with the rumors about the next generation of iPhones over the past few months, check out the following lines for everything we know about the Cupertino giant’s plans.
iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
As with the iPhone 12 line, the iPhone 13 should come in four models: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Some rumors even speculated that Apple could abandon the smaller version of the phone, which would not have made the expected success in the current generation. However, it is not unlikely that the company will choose to insist on the Mini model for another year.
What will the iPhone 13 be like?
Design with new colors and bigger cooktop
Don’t expect major visual changes to the iPhone 13 case and its variants. In the last generation, Apple has already changed the edges of the devices to bring back a “retro” look, and everything indicates that the next cell phones will follow this trend.
However, as has been happening every year, we can expect new color choices: rumors indicate that the iPhone 13 Pro will be sold in a new Matte Black color and also in a sort of orange bronze.
Touch ID is a feature that many users hope to have back — and it may come with the next generation in the form of an under-screen optical fingerprint sensor, similar to what is seen on Android phones. The rectangular notch that comes with iPhones since the launch of the iPhone X, on the other hand, should get smaller before it actually disappears (which is expected in 2022). The USB-C port, however, should be for the iPhone 14. In addition, the camera module, which resembles a cooktop, should be even more prominent on the iPhone 13.
iPhone 13 may have more economical always-on screen
A long-standing feature on Android phones may also finally find its way to the iPhone — I’m talking about the always-on display, which shows the time and date and notifications without having to light up the entire display.
The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max must have 120 Hz LTPO screens, which would even be manufactured by Samsung. Dashboards tend to be more economical, adapting the refresh rate according to the requirement of the task at hand. Rumors indicate that LG has also started preparing OLED panels with LTPS technology for the simpler versions of the iPhone 13 line. the sizes would be the same: 5.4 inches (Mini), 6.1 inches (iPhone 13), 6, 1 inch (iPhone 13 Pro) and 6.7 inches (iPhone 13 Pro Max).
iPhone 13 Camera Should Get Timely Updates
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini camera should remain with a dual lens on the back, while the more expensive versions would have a triple camera, as already happens with the iPhone 12. However, the iPhone 13 Pro Max should have a larger lens aperture ( f/1.5) to capture even more light and make better photos in dark environments.
In addition, models in the iPhone 13 lineup are expected to have a better zoom capability. Apparently, Apple would be planning to include a periscopic camera in more advanced versions — however, this feature could still be delayed until next year.
Recent rumors claim that the LiDAR sensor is not yet on the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini — it would be pegged only to the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, contrary to predictions from the DigiTimes.
Longer battery life and iOS 15
Anyone with an iPhone knows that longer battery life never hurts. And it looks like Apple will put components with greater capabilities into its next-gen smartphones. The expectation is that the increase is up to 18% compared to the iPhone 12 line. The iPhone 13 line should still reach other countries with support for 5G of millimeter waves (mmWave).
Finally, a certainty is iOS 15, already announced by Apple in June at WWDC 2021. The system, which is now available in beta version, brings improvements in iMessage, including spam filtering in Brazil, and in the management of notifications; a Focus mode, which helps to avoid distractions for a user-specified period; and news for FaceTime, among other features.
iPhone 13 price and launch in Brazil
The price of the iPhone 13, especially in Brazil, should be saltier than ever. Judging by the launch of the iPad Pro, AirTags and the colorful iMac, the “Apple dollar” is sky high: R$13, according to the calculations of our editor, Felipe Ventura. So, if you’re thinking about buying a new iPhone, you can already prepare your pocket and the psychological for the “stab” that is to come.
The iPhones 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are expected to be announced in the second half of 2021. Last year, production was delayed due to the pandemic, and the event was held in October. But provided that this situation is unlikely to repeat itself this year, Apple’s traditional calendar has a good chance of being maintained. So we can expect the next generation in mid-September.
