We take into account the official Apple Store prices online in 22 countries where the iPhone 12 is sold or pre-sold. All amounts have been converted from your local currency to the US dollar; they already include sales taxes.

In North America, taxes are added to the shopping cart when entering the zip code, as the rate varies depending on the state or province. In Canada, we choose the prices charged in Toronto (in Vancouver, they are slightly lower).

In the case of the USA, we list the price without tax – states like New Hampshire, Montana and Oregon have a zero rate – as well as the amount charged in New York, one of the main destinations for Brazilians in the country. (In California, Apple estimates a slightly lower tax rate than in NY.)

Brazil has more expensive iPhone 12, 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max

We selected three models to assess Apple prices around the world:

  • iPhone 12 Mini 64 GB, the cheaper least expensive of all;
  • standard 128 GB iPhone 12, intermediate;
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max 512 GB, the top of the line.

All of them cost more in Brazil than in other countries: are US $ 1,270, US $ 1,539 and US $ 2,535, respectively, in direct conversion. Apple doesn’t charge more than $ 1,000 for the entry-level iPhone 12 Mini anywhere else.

In addition, it is only here that the iPhone 12 Pro Max exceeds $ 2,500, as you can see in the chart below:

The survey of Tecnoblog shows that the iPhone 12, 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max are more expensive in Italy and Portugal; and are more accessible in Japan, Hong Kong and the USA – even taking into account the sales tax.

It is worth noting that, in the USA, the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini are slightly cheaper for customers of the operators AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile; to get the $ 30 discount, you must activate the line. In our comparison, we use the full prices of unlocked devices.

As for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, there is a curious phenomenon: India has the second highest official price in the world (US $ 2,159), behind Brazil only, surpassing Italy and Portugal. Maybe Apple is taking the opportunity to charge good more from those who are willing to pay more.

It is possible that, in the future, Brazil will have “only” the second most expensive iPhone 12 in the world, as the cell phone reaches other countries. It is worth remembering that Argentina has the highest price from Sony for the PS5, but Apple has not yet released its official values there.
