With each new generation, Huawei has improved its smartwatches of the GT line. The new Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro arrives on the market to correct that limited product impression of its predecessors and not only stand out for its sophistication. The company now delivers a watch that talks better with the iOS system, added a microphone and speaker for calls and music, however it remains unsupported by third-party apps.
Costing from R $ 1,800 and can reach R $ 2,299, is this watch a good option? Better to save on a Samsung or Xiaomi model? I tested the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro and share my experience of use in this full review.

Design and canvas
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is one of the most beautiful watches I have ever tested; it is no secret how much the company invests in construction and manages to design beautiful wearables. The Pro subscription is not only related to the functionality of the device, I say this because it has a premium proposal with quality materials. Like the Garmin Fenix 6, the GT 2 Pro has a sapphire glass screen, while the case is made of titanium and the bottom is made of shiny ceramic, very beautiful, by the way.
The company claims that all of this material was used to ensure greater strength and durability. The watch, however, is still very similar to the other models of the brand, such as the GT 2 and GT 2e, but this is not a problem. Huawei placed two buttons on the right side: the first accesses the menu and the second is configurable and, as a factory default, it has already given access to training modes.
I tested the black night model which is kind of discreet and does not draw much attention, thanks to the traditional look. You can even change the bracelet, but I feel that Huawei’s wearable doesn’t match colored bracelets, with a more pop footprint, so it’s better to use less flashy accessories.
The 1.39 inch (454 x 454 pixels) AMOLED screen has a high brightness, excellent definition and my tests on the street made me sure that viewing outdoors is great. So far, nothing new, especially if you followed our previous analysis of Huawei watches: the Chinese continues to deliver a first-rate panel without any visible problems.
Features and usage experience
We went into the topic of features and user experience. This time, my test was a little different, because I started going to the gym to improve my fitness. And, for that kind of purpose, the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro can be a good option, taking into account the number of exercise modes available, which should suit everyone, without exception.
Elliptical, rowing, strength training, spinning, crossfit, aerobics and street dancing are some of the modes offered. According to Huawei, the user will find more than 100 activities on the watch. And, for those who exercise in the water, the GT 2 Pro is water resistant up to 50 meters, so you can dive without too many blocks.
The smartwatch automatically detects training when the person starts exercising. But it doesn’t happen instantly and it takes a few minutes to identify what the person is practicing, at least it was like that when I tested it with the elliptical.
Regarding health functions, the Watch GT 2 Pro is not as complete as an Apple Watch Series 6, but the features embedded in Huawei’s product are quite interesting. The heart rate sensor proved to be reliable and the numbers corresponded with my activity at the gym and the walk on the street. SpO2, for measuring blood oxygen saturation, works very well and maintains a complete measurement history.
I have already praised Huawei’s sleep monitor in other reviews and that doesn’t change here: the feature delights me for its precision, performance and detail. Stress monitoring is cool, but I feel that it doesn’t add so much in practice and could bring more data and even share tips. The truth is that I even forgot about him at times.
To test the GPS, I took a simple 30-minute walk at an average speed of 3.40 km / h, according to the clock. After the activity, I could see that the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro can get lost a little in the curves, but nothing radical, and the performance remained satisfactory even in places with several residential buildings.
In smartwatch features, this is yet another smart watch from Huawei without support for third party apps. Their absence makes the Watch GT 2 Pro far behind the competition, especially when we compare it with the Galaxy Watch Active which is R $ 900 cheaper and allows you to add Spotify, Strava and other apps. GT 2 Pro, however, can only be integrated with Apple Health and Google Fit.
Responding to notifications is also not viable, while the Samsung model allows it. It may seem silly, but in practice, you may miss this feature while your phone charges in another distant room.
On the other hand, the company chose to add a microphone and speaker to the gadget. The user can answer phone calls on the watch and chat with the person on the other end without picking up the smartphone. The sound can be clear, but it is not loud enough for you to hear in loud places. I confess that I would use this resource little and I think it is more useful in urgent cases. The speaker also serves to listen to music, so just take advantage of the 4 GB of memory and upload the tracks to the wearable, but the question is: does anyone still download music?
The contact list, which the watch displays, can be imported through the Huawei Health app, for Android and iPhone. Also in the app are your health and training data and, yes, the company has greatly improved the communication of the wearable with the iOS system. This time, I was able to use it with an iPhone 11 without pairing problems and the absence of dials, errors that I saw during the evaluation of the Watch GT 2e. The watchfaces offer is wide in the app and the user can easily edit some models.
Huawei has not forgotten its autonomy and has done a good job in this regard, in addition to offering a broader charging system. The Watch GT 2 Pro has a battery that can last up to 14 days even with heavy use.
During my tests, on the eighth day with him on his wrist, they still had about 10% battery life. I left all the features on, notifications, sleep monitor, stress, heart rate and used SpO2 in a few moments. Here, we can still consider that 30-minute walk with the GPS on and use during the gym. Therefore, the result was satisfactory.
As for power, it supports wireless charging and even reverse charging, so you can take advantage of your smartphone to power your watch battery. In addition, a quick charge of 5 minutes guarantees an additional 10 hours of use.
Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro: is it worth it?
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is a great smart watch for anyone who wants to monitor fitness. My experience with him during the exercises was very satisfactory, and I also highlight the detailed data that is easy to understand there in the Huawei Health app. However, I must say that the smartwatch features of the GT 2 Pro disappoint, which is sad for such an expensive watch.
NFC, for example, is a technology that had to be here, since cheaper watches allow you to pay for approach. Not allowing the user to interact with notifications is another unacceptable limitation for a smartwatch in this category. And it is considering all this that I must recognize that the Galaxy Watch Active ends up being the best option next to the Apple Watch SE, the latter for those who use iPhone, especially.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is a good gadget, but it only makes sense, even, for you who just want to monitor your training and your health, nothing more than that.
