The two-step verification of WhatsApp, although it is an optional feature, is recommended by experts and even by the company itself. In general, it is a security mechanism that prevents unauthorized access to accounts, even when the password is compromised.
Two-step verification
Once the feature is activated, the application will perform checks every 72 hours to ensure the security of the account, asking the user to enter the PIN code established by him. If someone is trying to break into your account, this code will also be requested in order to make the process more difficult. So it is extremely important that you never give this code to anyone.
In addition, if there is a problem, the recovery of the account is facilitated by the resource, since there is a linked email. Next, check in detail how to activate the feature and add an email to your account.
How to add email to WhatsApp
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and, in the “Settings” tab, select the “Account” option. Then click on the “2-step confirmation” button. To add an email to your account, you will need to activate the feature. To do this, click on “Activate”;
Step 2: This action will open a window for creating a 6-digit PIN, which will be requested periodically and when you register the phone number on WhatsApp again. Enter a code and confirm it;
Step 3: You will now be prompted for a valid email. In general, this is to protect your account and to reset your PIN if you forget it. Enter an email address and confirm it.
How to change your account PIN?
Once 2-Step Verification is enabled, you can change the PIN following the same path. Check it out below:
Step 1: Go to Settings> Account> 2-step verification. Once this is done, click on “Change PIN”.
Step 2: Enter the new 6-digit code and, on the next tab, enter it again to confirm the action.
And ready! Through these simple and quick steps, you can change your password.
How to change the email?
It is still possible to change the email linked to the WhatsApp account. Fortunately, the change process is as intuitive as the previous one.
Step 1: Go to Settings> Account> 2-step verification. Once this is done, click on “Change email address”;
Step 2: Insert the new email and, in the next tab, inform it again to confirm the action.
Remember to always enter a valid email. After all, it will be used if you forget your PIN or face a security problem with your account.
How to disable the feature?
Although this feature creates an “extra layer” of security for your WhatsApp account, you may want to disable it for some reason. To do so, follow the step by step below:
Step 1: Again, go to Settings> Account> 2-step verification. But this time, click on the “Disable” option displayed in red;
Step 2: A small window will appear at the bottom of the screen. To confirm the action, select the “Disable” option again.
It is worth remembering that, if you have your account blocked for some reason, it is possible to solve this problem by activating WhatsApp. In this case, access the “Settings”, click on “Help” and, finally, on the “Contact Us” option. In this tab, describe the problem and insert screenshots that illustrate what has been described. Once this step is complete, tap “Next” to submit your request.
