Google may update Android from Pixel 6 and 6 Pro for up to 5 years | Cell

O Google must give a lot of time to support the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. According to Jon Prosser, from Front Page Tech, this Thursday (8), the company must release new versions of Android to cell phones for up to five years. The smartphones are expected to be announced with a fresh look, Google-created processor and more.

The rumor makes the dispute between cell phone makers even fiercer when it comes to updating. If the information is confirmed in the future, Google may offer up to five years of software updates for new smartphones. Prosser, however, did not talk about the previous generations of the Pixel line.

The upgrade policy would grant a long lifetime to the next generation. In addition, new phones would receive updates for a period similar to Apple’s products. This is the case with the iPhone 6S: the phone was launched in September 2015, almost six years ago, and is compatible with iOS 15.

Samsung is another company that has drawn attention in this regard. In August 2020, the manufacturer promised three years of Android update to phones from the Galaxy S and Note lines, folding and some from the Galaxy A family. The South Korean brand has also been standing out in relation to the release of security fixes.

Google Pixel 6 should bring Google’s own processor

Jon Prosser even anticipated details of the Google Pixel 6 datasheet in the same publication. In common, the two smartphones must bring a processor developed by Google itself, currently known as Whitechapel. The chip’s specs, however, have yet to be revealed.

O Google Pixel 6 it is also referred to as “Oriel”. But as noted by the 9to5Google, the codename is a little different from the identification previously found by the specialized site: “Oriole”. The second internal name, it’s worth remembering, has already appeared in both the Android 12 source code and a leaked document last year.

The cell phone screen is expected to be 6.4 inches. The dual camera can be formed by two 50 megapixel (main) and 12 MP (ultrawide) sensors. The front camera, which should appear in a hole on the display, should be 8 MP.

The smartphone tends to have 8GB RAM memory and options with 128GB and 256GB storage. The battery would be 4,614 mAh.

already the Google Pixel 6 Pro is recognized by the code name “Raven”. The 6.71-inch display must also be cut out by a hole to house the 12 MP front camera. On the back, the photographic set must have a 50 MP (main), 48 MP (telephoto) and 12 MP (ultrawide) sensor.

The leaked data sheet still points to 12 GB RAM and storage of up to 512 GB. The battery can have 5,000 mAh, the same capacity as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Both phones should come out of the box with Android 12 from the factory.

According to Prosser, Google Pixel 6 tends to be announced in October.
