THE Samsung held this Wednesday (11) the event Galaxy Unpacked, and announced a new line of mobile devices and accessories. O Galaxy Z Fold 3 has support for the S Pen stylus, and the folding brother Galaxy Z Flip 3 received improvements. The Korean also launched a new smartwatch with an operating system Google Wear OS and the headphones Galaxy Buds 2. Check out all the news below.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 now has S Pen and water resistance
The new Galaxy Z Fold 3 is one of Samsung’s main releases. The third generation of the folding smartphone wants to conquer users of the Galaxy Note line, since there is support for the S Pen pen.
By the way, Samsung has launched two pens: the simplest S Pen Fold Edition, compatible only with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and without Bluetooth. The S Pen Pro is bigger, has Bluetooth, charges through a USB port and is compatible with other Galaxy devices besides the folding smartphone.
Compared to the previous generation’s folding, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 didn’t bring improvements to the main screen – the highlight here is for the front camera under the display. In turn, the external display – used when the device is closed – now supports the 120 Hz refresh rate.
Samsung also extols the construction of the Z Fold 3, with aluminum edges, water resistance (IPX8) and Gorilla Glass Victus screen. The device has a triple rear camera, one with an ultrawide lens and the other a telephoto lens, as well as front cameras on the cover and an open screen.
Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is equipped with a 5-nanometer octa-core chip, 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The battery has a capacity of 4400 mAh and is supported by new 5G networks.
Galaxy Z Flip 3 gets improvements
Samsung’s other collapsible also got an update: the new Galaxy Z Flip 3 shares many aspects of the Z Fold 3, including 5 nanometer octa-core processor, water resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus glasses and aluminum edges.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3’s main screen remains 6.7 inches with Super AMOLED panel, but the external screen (when the smartphone is closed) has practically doubled in size and now has 1.9 inches.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 also gained new colors and can be found in green, cream, lilac, black, grey, white and pink. The smartphone has 8 GB of RAM memory, a battery with 3,300 mAh, support for 5G networks and will be marketed with 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage.
Galaxy Watch 4: Wear OS instead of Tizen
The new Galaxy Watch 4 brings an impressive body composition reader and is able to identify levels of fat and muscle mass, thanks to a sensor that performs bioimpedance analysis.
Inside, the Galaxy Watch 4 has a 5-nanometer Exynos W920 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. In addition to the new hardware, the new watch is an important milestone for Samsung by bringing Google’s Wear OS operating system instead of the Tizen used in previous generations.
The wearable will be marketed in two versions: the Galaxy Watch 4 line has aluminum finish and 40mm or 44mm cases, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic uses stainless steel and 42mm or 46mm cases.
Galaxy Buds 2 gets colored versions
Samsung also launched the Galaxy Buds 2, new line of true wireless headphones. The competitor of AirPods now has color versions (green and lilac) in addition to the traditional black or white. At $150 out there, they’re under Pro Buds ($200) and Live Buds ($170).
Even so, they have nice features like Bluetooth 5.2, three-level active noise cancellation and IPX2 certification against water drops. The promise is five hours of reproduction and a total autonomy of 20 hours, with recharges in the case. Incidentally, it supports wireless fast charging on Qi standard, and five minutes of charging should guarantee 60 minutes of sound.
Samsung has also made improvements to microphones and software — the goal is to improve call quality.
Buds 2 hit stores abroad on August 27th. Around here, there is no release forecast yet.
Special line in collaboration with Thom Browne
Also new from Samsung is a special line in collaboration with stylist Thom Browne. The partnership brought specific versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4 and the S Pen Pro pen, as well as covers for smartphones.
