Galaxy Z Fold 2 is official: Snapdragon 865 Plus, bigger screens and more | Cell phone

Samsung announced the first official details of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 this Wednesday (5th) at the Unpacked 2020 event. The successor to the Galaxy Fold comes with bigger screens, support for 5G and improved cameras; Qualcomm confirms that it will come with Snapdragon 865 Plus. There is no forecast for launching the foldable cell phone in Brazil.

Samsung’s new smartphone was made official after successive leaks. Among the novelties confirmed during the launch event is the name change of the first line of foldable cell phones of the South Korean brand, which changes its name to the Galaxy Z Fold, and no longer Samsung Galaxy Fold as in the previous generation.

The internal display is 7.6 inches and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz; the external panel is 6.2 inches, 60 Hz and occupies almost the entire front portion. Selfie cameras are placed in a hole (Infinity-O) on both screens, as in the Galaxy S20.

It is worth noting that Samsung confirmed only the screen size of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, not to mention specifications such as camera resolution, processor and battery. However, Max Weinbach’s XDA Developers obtained the complete technical sheet.

The photographic set is triple, allocated in a rectangular module on the outside, with three sensors of 12 MP each. We have the main lens, the ultrawide lens and the telephoto lens for 30x hybrid zoom. For selfies and voice and video calls, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has 10-megapixel front cameras.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes in two color options: Mystic Black (black) and Mystic Bronze (bronze). Samsung’s foldable phone will still have a limited edition made in partnership between the South Korean company and stylist Thom Browne.

The advanced technical sheet was present at the launch, with the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh with fast recharge of 25 watts, wireless of 11 watts and reverse charge (Wireless PowerShare).

Like the latest releases from the South Korean brand, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has support for 5G. Samsung promises to reveal more details about the device, including price and availability, in September; but it is now possible to book it in the USA. There is no forecast for a launch date in Brazil.

Samsung also announced the new Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on Wednesday (5) with advanced specifications, new S Pen, 5G and larger screens. Also featured were the Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live during Unpacked 2020.
