Line cell phone owners Samsung Galaxy S20 they are facing an uncomfortable problem. Over the internet, the owners of the phones of the South Korean brand complained after the appearance of white and green spots on the display that prevent the use of the smartphone. Complaints mainly affect the Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra.
Some reports surfaced in May. Earlier that month, a video posted on YouTube by user Mabsen showed a Galaxy S20 Ultra with a completely white screen, preventing use of the smartphone when the problem appears. In some cases, the display also had some green markings.
The author of the video explained that he purchased the smartphone in March 2020 and that the device did not suffer any damage. But in April 2021, the cell phone panel started to show some tiny lines. Then the phone’s display started to go completely white. But there are also times when the screen comes back on.
Later, on May 14th, another complaint for the same smartphone appeared on the Samsung forum. Initially, the cell phone owner identified as LeeYon also noticed some flashing lines, especially when playing games. “Then the screen turned green and white and overheated when it was on for a while,” he reported.
Owners sought help when they noticed the problem. Mabsen, the support of Samsung Philippines suggested restoring your smartphone to factory settings. He, however, reports that he did not undergo the procedure:
“I did some troubleshooting except factory reset,” he said. “I believe it’s a software bug as a lot of users experience it almost every day and it all happened after the April security updates.”
LeeYon received support from a forum moderator. In the discussion, the user was instructed to use the cell phone in emergency mode and reset to factory settings. Even with the procedures performed, the failures persisted.
Failure hits Samsung Galaxy S20+ screen
Another complaint appeared on Reddit this Tuesday (13). At the time, the creator of the topic identified as Wroved published a video of a Galaxy S20+ with the same problem. As in previous reports, the screen was completely green or white, making smartphone use impossible.
Wroved also gave more details about his cell phone. In the publication, he said that the smartphone did not even fall or suffered any kind of damage. In the comments, other people have reported that they are facing the same glitch in their phones.
“I’m having the same problem. Is there any remedy for this?”, one person commented. “I have this same problem. I don’t know if it’s because of the latest update or what. But I had it replaced with a new screen at Samsung,” said another user in the thread.
It’s still unclear whether the issue is related to a software or hardware failure. So far, Samsung has not commented on the case.
Galaxy S20 FE also had screen issues
This isn’t the first time there’s been talk about screen failures on the Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup. In October, owners of the Galaxy S20 FE reported issues with phantom touch and smartphone display unresponsiveness. At the time, Samsung even promised a fix after the complaints arose.
Later in November, the complaints had another target. According to owners of Galaxy S20 and Note 20 units affected by the failure, the problem prevented the battery from recharging correctly. Complaints also appeared on forums.
Samsung also became the target of a lawsuit in April 2021. The lawsuit questions another problem with the line, this time reported shortly after its launch in early 2020: the fragile glass in the Galaxy S20’s camera. According to the owners, the cracks appeared even without records of falls or other types of accidents.
