Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra have new S Pen, 5G and bigger screens | Cell phone

THE Samsung revealed on Wednesday (5) the Galaxy Note 20 it’s the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, supercar phones with powerful hardware and new features for the S Pen, which has lower latency and more gestures for remote control. The smartphones support the Brazilian 5G, record in 8K and bring some of the features that the company had already introduced in the S20 line.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has 108 MP camera

THE Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the model for those already used to the latest Note line phones: it has a 6.9-inch screen with curved sides and the best features of the new generation, such as the main camera of 108 megapixels, ultra-wideband technology ( UWB) and a professional video recording mode, with different audio capture modes.

THE S Pen is in a format similar to previous generations, but Samsung has reduced pen latency to make writing more natural: according to the company, the delay has dropped to just 9 milliseconds. In addition, because it has integrated Bluetooth, the accessory works like a remote control: you can make gestures in the air to go back, forward, open the screen of recent applications and, now, take a screenshot.

In-app Samsung Notes, the main novelty is audio synchronization: it is possible to record a meeting and take notes by hand at the same time; the tool will indicate at which point in the audio you wrote a particular note. There were also improvements in the organization of folders, a feature to annotate in PDFs and a button to automatically adjust the angle of your writing.

Exynos 990 and 120 Hz “up to” screen on Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Samsung’s next top of the line comes with hardware improvements over the Galaxy Note 10, but much of the news has already been introduced in the S20 line, unveiled in March this year. Others are just refinements of functions that already existed in the brand’s devices.

The model processor that will be sold in Brazil is the Samsung Exynos 990 octa-core, the same that equips the S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra. Some countries, such as the United States and South Korea, will receive a variant with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 Plus. Asked, Samsung explains to the Tecnoblog that these markets will receive another version due to the existence of old networks with CDMA technology.

Until then 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, but Samsung has deployed the feature in a more “smart” way than on the S20 Ultra: the new phone may choose between 60 Hz and 120 Hz depending on the content being presented, which should result in greater fluidity in games, but battery savings of 4,500 mAh while you’re doing simpler tasks. On-call gamers can benefit from the 240 Hz touch response.

The front camera is 10 megapixels, while the rear ones are 108 megapixels (main), 12 megapixels (ultrawide) and 12 megapixels (telephoto, with 5x hybrid zoom). A new laser will take care of improving the speed of autofocus, especially in video recording, which is one of the highlights of the new product.

THE professional video recording mode allows you to adjust the zoom speed, creating a cinematic effect and bringing the subject closer in a smoother way. It will also be possible to select the audio source: standard (using the three integrated microphones), front or rear, in addition to external microphones connected by USB or Bluetooth. Shooting continues to be up to 8K at 24 fps, with a new 21: 9 aspect ratio.

5G DSS, ultra-wideband chip and DeX Wireless

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a ultra-wideband chip (UWB), similar to the Apple U1 on the iPhone 11, which can be used to share data more quickly and directionally with compatible devices or use the phone as a digital key for the car, home or turnstile in the office building.

Samsung confirms to the Tecnoblog that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra supports the 5G, only at sub-6 frequencies, without millimeter wave support (mmWave) in the Brazilian model. It will be compatible with dynamic spectrum sharing technology (5G DSS), in the frequencies of 700 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 2,600 MHz, which guarantees compatibility with the network launched by Claro.

THE DeX mode, which turns the phone into a desktop, can be used completely wirelessly: it will display the interface with floating windows on any TV compatible with the Miracast standard or with the Samsung Smart View feature. You can control the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in DeX mode through a keyboard, mouse or the S Pen itself.

Other details of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are the 4,500 mAh battery with 25 watts fast charge, reduced latency mode for Bluetooth headphones in games, 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage internal.

The model will be sold globally from August 21, in bronze, black and white. Samsung did not disclose the prices or the launch date for the Brazilian market.

Galaxy Note 20: flat screen and more modest hardware

Just as it did on the Galaxy Note 10 line, when it launched a smaller model to attract new consumers, Samsung is also bringing a simpler variant (which is different from “affordable”). THE Galaxy Note 20 has the same processor and most features of the Ultra model, but comes with low on cameras, hardware and battery.

In cameras, the main difference is that the main sensor has a resolution of 64 megapixels, not 108 megapixels. The zoom lens has also been downgraded: Samsung talks about 3x optical zoom, not 5x hybrid zoom anymore. Regarding the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the maximum digital zoom drops from 50x to 30x (but of course you shouldn’t be anywhere near these numbers if you want to have some quality).

The specifications complete a battery of 4,300 mAh, 8 GB of RAM and options of 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage. The available colors will be bronze, green and gray. The details of the launch for the Brazilian market have not yet been revealed.
