Until the DirecTV Go launched a promotion for the Black Friday of 2021. Whoever hires the IPTV service during the period of offers will have a 90% discount on the first two monthly payments, in addition to free access to HBO Max and to the broadcaster’s channels for a period of one year. The plan is normally sold for R$69.90 monthly.

Black Friday do DirecTV Go

The Black Friday promotion is only available on the monthly plan. Anyone who hires DirecTV Go until November 29, 2021 will pay BRL 6.90 in the first two monthly payments. From the third month the price returns to the standard, which is R$69.90 per month.

An important detail is that the promotion is only valid for new customers. This time, it is not possible to benefit from Anatel’s resolution that determines that promotions are available to any user: the channel service via IPTV is considered as common streaming and is exempt from agency regulation.

Anyway, this is a great opportunity to get to know DirecTV Go, especially if you are a subscriber to a conventional pay TV plan and want to save a few bucks a month. The monthly IPTV service plan does not have any type of loyalty or commitment and can be canceled at any time. Payment is made via credit cards.

In addition to free HBO, the package gives access to more than 70 live TV channels, including open channels (Globo, Band, SBT, Record e Culture) and closed. The grid includes content from large conglomerates, such as Canals Globo (SportTV, Globonews, Multishow, GNT, Viva, etc.), Disney (Star Channel, Star Life, Disney Channel e Disney XD) e Discovery (Discovery, Home & Health, History Channel, H2, ID, Discovery Science, Discovery Theater, etc.).

DirecTV Go Gives 1 Year Free of HBO Max

The promotion of R$ 6.90 in the first two months is also interesting for those who are interested in HBO Max and want to save some change. Anyone who buys a DirecTV Go plan also gets a free year of streaming service while their IPTV subscription is active. If you do not want to continue paying R$69.90 from the third month onwards, you can cancel everything.

Anyway, the package also gives access to the linear channels of HBO, with the stations HBO, HBO 2, HBO Plus, HBO Family e HBO Signature. After a period of one year, the charge becomes R$27.90 per month; those who do not want to pay for the channels after the period must cancel the additional package before renewal.

Free HBO promotion is good, but DirecTV Go has done better:

  • Whoever hired DirecTV Go at its launch in December 2020, got five years of free HBO channels. At the time, HBO Max did not exist yet, but whoever has access to the stations also gained a login for the streaming service. The promotion ended a few months later.
  • When HBO Max was launched in Brazil, DirecTV Go granted two free years to anyone subscribing to the IPTV service. This promotion ended just before the Black Friday offer, which reduced the free period to one year.

Reducing the free period is bad for the consumer, but from a business point of view, it makes sense. DirecTV is no longer under the umbrella of AT&T, which also owns HBO/WarnerMedia. The US operator divested Sky and other pay TV assets in Latin America after a loss of $4.6 billion.
