Screen: Galaxy A01 has the smallest display

The Galaxy A01 has the smallest screen – it’s 5.4 inches, against 6.5 ”of the two other models. The three panels are LCD, not Super AMOLED like the most expensive models of the brand, and the resolution is only HD +, which is common for this segment.

In the practical tests of the Tecnoblog, the screen of the Galaxy A02s until it turned out to be pleasant, although it is possible to notice serrations, especially in system icons (a consequence of low resolution). The brightness is good and the colors are vivid. We even tested the A01 and A02, but from the technical sheet, they are likely to follow similar standards.

All three phones have a drop-shaped notch (Samsung’s Infinity-V), and house a 5-megapixel front camera – we’ll talk more about it throughout the text.

Design: Galaxy A02s looks more attractive

Cheap cell phone has dull design, right? Not always! Despite being sold in the same color options (blue, red and black), the Galaxy A02s differs from the A01 and A02 (in addition to many other entry-level smartphones) by presenting a geometric pattern that reflects in the light, causing a nice effect on the back of the device.

The other two models follow that more conservative pattern, with solid colors. There is a texture that makes the footprint less “slippery”. The housings are made of plastic, of course.

Talking about the inputs and connections, the Galaxy A02s is the most modern, with USB-C for charging. In turn, the A02 and A01 still bring outdated micro-USB ports. They all have a microSD memory card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack (P2) for headphones – but the Galaxy A02s doesn’t have the headphones in the box.

Camera: double or triple, depending on the model

In terms of photography, it is important to make it clear that none of these models will deliver incredible results. The cameras here fulfill the basics for everyday life – a double set on the back of the Galaxy A01 and Galaxy A02, and a triple on the Galaxy A02s. Let’s look at the differences between them:

Galaxy A01: basicão same

With a 13 megapixel main sensor and a 2 MP auxiliary, for blurring in portrait mode, the Galaxy A01 cell phone offers quite simple cameras. Still, you will achieve good results in well-lit places, such as on a sunny day, for example. At night, there is no way: the noises take over and make the photos very uninteresting.

Galaxy A02: a macro lens, but at what cost?

The Galaxy A02 also has a dual camera. However, instead of a second depth sensor, we have a macro camera with only 2 megapixels. Talking serious? For those who really like to photograph very close details, it’s a very low resolution. So, yes, it has a macro lens, but the results are not there. Don’t expect too much from this camera.

Galaxy A02s: triple camera, joining A01 and A02

Don’t want to choose between a depth sensor and a macro lens? Okay, you can opt for “versatility” and have both with the Galaxy A02s. The resolutions are still 2 MP on both cameras, and the main sensor remains at 13 MP.

See some photos taken with the Galaxy A02s:

For selfies, the three cell phones bring 5 megapixels in the front camera. However, there is a difference in lens aperture: on the A02, it is f / 2.0. In the others, it is more closed, f / 2.2 – allowing less light to enter.

Performance: differentiating the basics

Among the three models of this comparison, the Galaxy A02 brings the most basic processor, a Mediatek MT6739W, quad-core, which reaches 1.5 GHz. It tends to be less efficient than the Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 450 chips, used in the Galaxy A01 and A02s, respectively.

In RAM, the Galaxy A02s comes out ahead, with 3 GB, against 2 GB of the other two models.

In practice, A02s should be the choice of those who want the basics, but are not willing to suffer from many gagging. That’s because the A02s can run even some heavy games, as long as the game’s graphics settings are at a minimum.

Battery: Galaxy A02 and A02s are good

The Galaxy A01 was launched with 3,000 mAh, a capacity that was once considered standard, but that, today, I evaluate as low. It may not be able to withstand a full day of heavy use with these settings. Already the Galaxy A02 and A02s bring an upgrade in this direction, with 5,000 mAh.

In our tests, the A02s did very well. Darlan Helder spent 1h30min on Netflix, 30 minutes browsing social networks and closed with 30 minutes of Asphalt 8. The phone was connected to Wi-Fi and the screen brightness was at maximum. Result: the battery went from 100% to 74%, which is a great result, and indicates that the cell phone can achieve an entire day of use with peace of mind.

Price and cost-benefit: A01, A02 or A02s, which one to buy?

The Galaxy A01 and Galaxy A02 were launched in Brazil for R $ 1,099, but they are already sold for much less. While the A01 costs, on average, R $ 599 * in electronic retail, the A02 is priced in the range of R $ 850 *.

The Galaxy A02s, which stands out in some aspects, such as design, cameras and RAM, was announced for R $ 1,399. Currently, it costs about R $ 930 *. Okay, but what now?

Let’s consider two scenarios:

1. If you want to spend as little as possible and battery is not an issue, Galaxy A01 is the way out. For less than R $ 600, it is a cell phone that delivers the basics in performance, photo and visuals, and will withstand simple tasks without major problems. But keep an eye on the battery: if you spend a lot of time away from the outlets, this may not be the ideal model.

2. If you can spend up to R $ 1,000, the Galaxy A02s is the best option to consider among the three, as it stands out with a large battery, attractive design, larger amount of RAM and large screen, more comfortable to watch your favorite movies and series.
