O Redmi Note 10 Pro it’s the Galaxy A72 are premium intermediary cell phones from Xiaomi and the Samsung, respectively. The smartphones were launched in Brazil in 2021 with a price between R $ 3,299 and R $ 3,799, and have some similar characteristics in the technical file, such as the large battery, 6.7 ”screen and 6 GB RAM. However, there are important changes that you must consider before purchasing. Find out which cell phone is the best for your daily life in the comparison below.
Screen and design
Greater fluidity, definition and vivid colors
Looking from the front, the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Galaxy A72 are very similar. Both have screens of approximately 6.7 ”, with Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and AMOLED technology (Super AMOLED, in the case of Samsung), which provides greater energy savings and vivid colors, with intense contrasts.
Despite the similarities, the Redmi Note 10 Pro brings a higher refresh rate: 120 Hz, against 90 Hz of the Galaxy A72. In practice, however, this difference should not be very noticeable, considering the hardware of the two phones – both deliver graphic fluidity above the conventional (60 Hz), which causes that feeling that the screen transitions are faster (and it is also cool for games).
Looking at more aesthetic points of the panel, the front camera is located in a small hole aligned to the center, at the top of the display – a design that offers good use of the screen and greater immersion to watch your favorite films and series.
Galaxy A72 has greater protection against water
At the back, it is easier to distinguish the models. The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a more striking camera frame, standing out more from the body of the device, which is covered by Gorilla Glass 5. On the other hand, the Galaxy A72 brings the lenses in a more sober module, with colors that accompany the remainder of the housing (which is plastic). In both cases, the quad camera is aligned to the left.
Xiaomi has adopted a more basic protection (IP53) against splashes on the Redmi Note 10 Pro, while the Galaxy A72 has water and dust resistance (IP67), which under test conditions can withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. .
Both have USB-C port and P2 input (3.5 mm) for headphones. The digital reader of the Galaxy A72 is under the screen, while the Redmi Note 10 Pro is positioned on the side of the phone.
Winner: Galaxy A72
Four rear lenses, but with differences
Both the Galaxy A72 and the Redmi Note 10 Pro have a rear quad camera, but the models differ in lens types and sensor resolution. Starting with the main camera, which on the Galaxy A72 is 64 megapixels and on the Redmi Note 10 Pro it is 108 megapixels. Point for Samsung, which also brings optical image stabilization (OIS).
In practice, you can use the 108 megapixel sensor of the Xiaomi phone to get 2x zoom, but for the most demanding, the images fall short in sharpness, as you would expect in a common digital zoom.
In turn, the Galaxy A72 has a telephoto lens (8 MP sensor) designed for up to 3x optical zoom, delivering images with better definition in this mode. The Redmi Note 10 Pro does not have a telephoto lens, but a 2 MP depth sensor, missing from the A72.
Talking about the ultrawide lens, Samsung brings a sensor with 12 MP, against 8 MP from Xiaomi. And in the macro camera, everything is the same: 5 megapixel sensors with f / 2.4 lens aperture that do not deliver the best photos in the world, but achieve an instagram result (better than cell phones with 2 MP sensors, after all) ).
Going for selfies, the Galaxy A72 has a 32 MP (f / 2.2) sensor and the Redmi Note 10 Pro has 16 MP (f / 2.5). Samsung takes the lead by allowing 4K videos at 30 fps with the front camera (the Xiaomi model is limited to 1080p at 30 fps on this camera).
The videos with the rear camera reach 4K at 30 fps in both models, but Samsung still brings electronic stabilization (EIS) at 1080p, something that is not present in the Redmi Note 10 Pro.
Winner: Galaxy A72 presents the most complete / consistent set
Performance and storage
The Redmi Note 10 Pro and Galaxy A72 have Qualcomm processors aimed at the gamer audience. These are the Snapdragon 732G and Snapdragon 720G, respectively. The two also have 6 GB of RAM and use the same Adreno 618 GPU.
Basically, you shouldn’t have any headaches with gagging or sluggishness in everyday apps like WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube, and the difference between processors shouldn’t be crucial in these cases.
In games, however, the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s Snapdragon 732G tends to do a little better. It also promises to be more energy efficient and achieves a higher maximum GPU frequency, offering better graphics performance.
As for storage, the Redmi Note 10 Pro is sold in Brazil in two options: 64 GB or 128 GB. The Galaxy A72 arrives with only 128 GB. There is a memory card slot on both smartphones.
Winner: Redmi Note 10 Pro, but narrowly
Battery and charging
The battery should not be a problem on both devices. Xiaomi’s model has 5,020 mAh, with the advantage of 33 W fast charging, which promises 59% in half an hour. The Galaxy A72 has a capacity of 5,000 mAh, but fast charging only reaches 25 watts.
In both cases, it is expected that the autonomy will be enough for an entire day of work, with moderate use, with the possibility of reaching the second day without great difficulty.
Winner: Redmi Note 10 Pro
Operating system: Android 11 factory
Both devices leave the factory with the latest stable version of Google’s operating system, Android 11. On the Galaxy A72, it is present on One UI 3.1, and on Redmi Note 10 Pro, on MIUI 12.
MIUI has its fans due to customization, but ends up delivering more unnecessary apps than One UI, and even excessive advertising in various parts of the system (see how to disable these annoying ads). Samsung’s interface, on the other hand, is cleaner with each new version, offering a more sober experience.
Winner: depends on the user
Price and value for money: Redmi Note 10 Pro vs Galaxy A72
The launch price of the two phones is over R $ 3,000, so you should keep in mind that you are betting on relatively expensive phones, with some premium features, but that are not top of the line. That is, if you are looking for maximum performance, it may be worth saving a little more money and investing in advanced models, such as Galaxy S20 Fe, for example.
But back to the comparison in question: the Redmi Note 10 Pro arrived in Brazil R $ 3,299 (64 GB) and R $ 3,399 (128 GB), while the Galaxy A72 arrived here costing absurdities R $ 3,799. The retail price, however, is already lower. On the date of publication of this comparison, it was possible to find offers for Redmi Note 10 Pro for about R $ 2,800 (128 GB), and for the Galaxy A72 for approximately R $ 2,100, which is a very nice price. Samsung’s own store already sells the A72 for R $ 2,599.
In a scenario where the Galaxy A72 costs R $ 700 less, it is difficult to recommend the Redmi Note 10 Pro. The Samsung model has a more convincing camera set, is resistant to water and dust and promises good battery life. Its performance is slightly behind the Redmi Note 10 Pro in more demanding situations, such as games. But if that is not your focus, there is no reason to pay more on the Xiaomi phone.
If you find better prices for the Redmi Note 10 Pro and are a fan of the brand, it is worth buying the smartphone to have a little more firepower. Its 108 megapixel camera is another interesting point, and a quick charge of 33 watts is always welcome.
