Allugator, Alugueira and more console and game rental services – Games – Tecnoblog

Console and game rental services can be good alternatives for those who can’t afford full prices, don’t want to keep a collection of devices at home, or just want to use video games at an event. Here in Brazil, there are some companies that do this type of service, but you have to choose the right ones, as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo do not allow the sharing of digital games.

Sharing accounts is illegal, but renting consoles is not

Console manufacturers do not allow in their terms of use for users to share games on digital media with others. This practice is common in the gray market, as individuals do not sell the games themselves, but rather access the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live or Nintendo Account profiles used to purchase those titles.

Sharing works like this: an individual pays to receive credentials for a gaming profile and registers that account as the main one on the console. Then the player enters their own data and logs in as a secondary user. Thus, he can download any game purchased from the main profile.

As this practice is prohibited by console manufacturers, it is possible for the player’s account or even the console to be banned from online servers. In Brazil, there have been cases in which people had their PS5 banned, but managed to regain access through the courts. Even so, we don’t recommend buying or renting games this way.

On the other hand, there is no problem with renting consoles and games on physical media, as if it were a video store, as none of these transactions involve sharing logins, passwords or other sensitive data. Among the companies that offer this type of service are Allugator, Alugueira, Aluga Games and Game Festas. In the following lines, I show how each one of them works, in which cities they operate and the prices charged.

Allugator is a console subscription service

Allugator is an electronics rental service company that, in addition to consoles, also offers iPhones and accessories such as headphones. Products are purchased through subscriptions that can be renewed or canceled at the end of the term. For consoles, the only plan available is quarterly and there is no option to purchase the device at the end of the subscription.

In the store catalog you can find PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. When you subscribe, the product is shipped throughout Brazil and arrives at the subscriber’s home between 22 to 60 working days after payment confirmation, as the consoles are not ready for delivery. It is worth mentioning that all consoles are protected against theft and theft.

Console subscriptions are renewed every three months, and payment can be made via boleto, Pix and credit card divided into up to 12 installments with interest or three installments without interest. Allugator prices at the time of publication of this article are as follows:

  • PS4: R$ 400;
  • PS4 Pro: R$ 475;
  • PS5: R$ 729,19;
  • Nintendo Switch: R$ 505.

It is worth mentioning that the entire process of sending and returning the consoles is done by the Post Office, via Sedex, and there is no shipping cost. The company does not have physical stores and all service is carried out online on the Allugator website.

Alugueira offers consoles and games in MG, RJ and SC

Like Allugator, Alugueira also offers a variety of gadgets and electronics, as well as consoles. Alugueira, however, still has physical games in its catalog and, instead of signing a fixed-time plan, it is possible to choose the exact number of days to keep the products.

In Alugueira’s console catalog, there are several editions of the PS4 — including kits with PS VR —, PS5, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Among the games are some of the most popular titles for each of the platforms, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us Parte 2, Halo 5, Forza Horizon 4, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, between others.

Alugueira works with a minimum rental period of three days, and the amounts charged are adapted according to the number of additional days requested by the client. For payment, the store accepts Boleto, Pix, bank transfer and debit and credit cards. The prices of the main consoles and games on the date of publication of this text are:

  • PS4: R$ 165;
  • PS VR: R$ 160;
  • PS4 + PS VR: R$ 325;
  • PS5: R$ 330;
  • Xbox One S: R$ 120;
  • Nintendo Switch: R$ 150;
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4): R$ 20;
  • The Last of Us Parte 2 (PS4): R$ 20;
  • Halo 5 (Xbox One): R$ 11;
  • Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox One): R$ 11;
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch): R$ 42;
  • The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (Switch): R$ 35.

In addition to the Alugueira website, the company has three physical stores located in Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis and Rio de Janeiro. Products can be picked up in person or sent to customers’ homes only in these three cities, with shipping cost according to the delivery address.

Rent Games and Game Parties rent games for events

Aluga Games and Game Festas are together because they offer very similar services: console and game rentals for birthday parties, corporate events, championships and fairs. There are, however, some differences between them, such as the area of expertise and the products available.

Both companies work by means of a prior quote — that is, the price is calculated by phone, WhatsApp or email according to the needs of each client. Both Aluga Games and Game Festas offer complete gaming stations that include consoles, games, TVs and other additional peripherals.

Aluga Games, for example, has as a differential the possibility of renting gamer PCs for esports championships and cockpits for racing games, as well as PlayStation consoles — with or without PS VR —, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The company only operates in the regions of São Paulo and carries out all the assembly of structures in person at locations marked with a scheduled date and time.

Meanwhile, Game Festas has in its catalog the traditional consoles — PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch — but also offers arcade machines with retro games. The company only operates in the state of Rio de Janeiro, including the regions of the capital, Greater Rio, Niterói and São Gonçalo, and also assembles the devices in person at events.
