120 Hz screen, premium SoC, Xiaomi breaks the prices again!

Xiaomi unveils two new smartphones: the Poco X3 Pro and the Poco F3. Both smartphones benefit from very good technical data sheets and extremely aggressive prices, according to the brand’s tradition. Focusing on high performance, they will be sold between 199 euros and 399 euros depending on the versions and current promotions. Presentations.

The Poco brand is one of the most commercially aggressive today. It offers a lot, for a budget that remains very tight. A positioning that reminds us of the heyday of OnePlus and Xiaomi. The two brands made a name for themselves thanks to an unfailing quality-price ratio. In recent months, the two brands have been less aggressive. But, luckily, Poco cleverly took over. And the brand will continue this year.

This is confirmed again today, March 22, 2021. Xiaomi has, as expected, presented two new smartphones for its alternative brand. They are called Poco X3 Pro and Poco F3. The first is a “premium mid-range” model (no longer really mid-range, but not quite high-end either), while the second is decidedly a “flagship killer”. And even, more precisely, a ” Mi 11 killer “. And of course we will explain why.

Poco F3: as powerful as a 2020 flagship

So let’s start these presentations with the Poco F3. This is a 5G smartphone with a technical data sheet that has nothing to envy to some smartphones sold two or three times more expensive. It is equipped with a screen 6.67 inch AMOLED. Full HD + definition. 120 Hz refresh rate. 360 Hz sampling rate. HDR10 + compatibility. Brightness announced at 900 nits. Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Integrated fingerprint reader.

Below the screen, you will find the Snapdragon 870, brand new chipset from Qualcomm. The Poco F3 is the second smartphone to take advantage of it after the Mi 10S, made official a few days ago. The Snapdragon 870 is an improved version of the Snapdragon 865 (and more powerful, theoretically, than the Snapdragon 865+). It is compatible with the Snapdragon X55 external 5G modem. He is accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage (no extension possible). To control the heat of the SoC, the Poco F3 is equipped with a technology called LiquidCool. We will know more about her during our tests.

On the photo side, we find three sensors on the back and a selfie sensor on the front. The main sensor is a model 48 megapixels with phase detection autofocus and lens opening at f / 1.79. Secondary sensors are models 8 and 2 megapixels, with wide-angle lenses opening at f / 2.2 and macro lenses opening at f / 2.4, respectively. The second is equipped with standard autofocus. You will notice the lack of optical zoom and optical stabilizer.

The selfie sensor is a model 20 megapixels with lens opening at f / 2.45. To power all this, the Poco F3 is equipped with a battery of 4250 mAh fast charge compatible 33 watts (a suitable charger is delivered in the box). Finally, two Dolby Atmos certified speakers complete this relatively rich set. We will talk about prices at the end of this article.

Poco X3 Pro: the best competitor of the Redmi Note 10 Pro?

Let’s move on to the Poco X3 Pro, an equally interesting product, especially considering the prices. The Poco X3 Pro is not a lightweight Poco F3. This is a phone that will focus more on battery life than pure power. You find a powerful SoC, of course, but less greedy. And above all, you find a more generous battery. Let’s go into detail.

The SoC in question is the brand new and beautiful Snapdragon 860. This is the first time that this octo-core from Qualcomm has been announced in a smartphone. This is a component that looks like an optimized Snapdragon 855+. So expect the performance of a 2019 flagship, with a gain in energy savings. The Snapdragon 860 is not 5G compatible, but only 4G. But we don’t blame him, given the extent of 5G networks in France. He is accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage, depending on the version.

The battery of the Poco X3 Pro offers a capacity of 5160 mAh. It is therefore much larger than that of the Poco F3 (we assume that the lack of a 5G modem has something to do with it). It is fast charge compatible 33 watts (and the compatible charger is provided, here too). On the photo side, the Poco X3 Pro takes over the equipment of the Poco F3 (sensors 48 + 8 + 2 megapixels on the back and selfie sensor 20 megapixels at the front) and adds a fourth module at the back of 2 megapixels. It is used to calculate the depths for portrait mode (and assists the autofocus of the main sensor).

The screen of the Poco X3 Pro consists of a panel 6.67 inch DotDisplay LCD. Full HD + definition. 120Hz refresh rate. 240Hz sampling rate. HDR10 compatible. Brightness announced at 450 nits. Gorilla Glass 6 protection (not 5, like the Poco F3). Integrated fingerprint reader. Finally, two Dolby Atmos compatible speakers complete the package.

Very aggressive prices

Here are the technical sheets of the two new smartphones from Poco. It remains to be seen when they will be available and at what price! The Poco X3 Pro will be the first to arrive. It will be available on March 26 (either at the end of the week). The Poco F3, meanwhile, will arrive a few days later, the March 30 (either at the beginning of next week). The Poco X3 Pro will be marketed at 249 euros in 6 + 128 GB version and 299 euros in 8 + 256 GB version. The Poco F3 will be offered at 349 euros and 399 euros, with the same configurations.

Note, however, that both smartphones will benefit from 50 euros reduction during the first three days of their respective marketing. Or from March 26 to 29 for the Poco X3 Pro and from March 30 to April 2 for the Poco F3. This brings back the Poco X3 Pro and the Poco F3 in 6 + 128 GB version under the 200 euros and 300 euros mark, respectively. These are extremely aggressive prices that will certainly do as much harm to the competition (Oppo, Realme, Vivo, Samsung) as to other brands of Xiaomi, in particular Redmi which presented its Redmi Note 10 earlier this month.
