Dewey Finn (Jack Black) is a musician who has just been fired from his band. Full of debts to pay and with nothing to do, he accepts to teach as a substitute teacher in a private school with strict discipline. Soon Dewey becomes an example to his students, with some of them joining the teacher to set up a local band, unbeknownst to their parents.

The curiosity is that Jack Black was nominated for a Golden Globe for this film.

2. Sound of Silence (2020) – Prime Video

In Sound of Metal (Sound of Metal in the original), a young drummer fears for his future when he realizes that he is gradually going deaf. Two passions are at stake: music and his girlfriend, who is a member of the same heavy metal band as the boy. This drastic change brings a lot of tension and anguish in the drummer’s life, slowly tormented by silence.

The film received six Academy Award nominations from 2021, including “Best Picture” and ended up taking the statuette for “Best Sound.”
